This Privacy Policy describes how OAT & CO PTY LTD (ABN 34 698 855 024 | ACN 698 855 024), trading as Tradie Tax ("we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Tradie Tax mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Account information: Your email address and password when you create an account.
• Profile information: Your name, trade type, and income bracket to calculate your estimated tax refund.
• Receipt images: Photos you take or upload of your work-related receipts.
• Receipt data: Merchant name, date, amounts, GST, and deduction category for each receipt you log.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: How you interact with the App (screens visited, features used, session duration).
• Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting.
• Streak and XP data: Your activity dates to maintain your daily streak and gamification progress.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the core App functionality — logging receipts, calculating your estimated refund, and generating EOFY exports.
• To process your receipt images using AI (see Section 4 — Third-Party Services) to automatically extract and categorise tax information.
• To maintain your account, authenticate you, and keep your data secure.
• To calculate your gamification progress (XP, levels, badges, streak).
• To improve the App based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.
• To respond to your support requests.
• To send you important account or service notifications (not marketing, unless you opt in).

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data — including receipt images and financial information — is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Row-level security policies ensure you can only access your own data.

Receipt images are stored in a private Supabase storage bucket accessible only to your account.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at support@tradietax.app.

4. Third-Party Services

Supabase

We use Supabase (supabase.com) for authentication, database storage, and file storage. Supabase processes data on our behalf and is contractually bound to protect your information. Supabase stores data in data centres that may be located outside Australia. By using the App you consent to this transfer.

Anthropic (Claude AI)

When you scan a receipt, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract tax-relevant information (merchant, amount, GST, suggested category). Anthropic processes this data as a service provider. Images sent for processing are not used to train Anthropic's AI models under the standard API terms. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details.

Apple (iOS App Store)

If you download the App from the Apple App Store, Apple may collect information as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not control Apple's data practices.

5. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Opt out of any marketing communications.
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have breached your privacy.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you via the App if the changes are material. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
